Whether you agree with it or not, the current Administration is committed to doing all it can to prevent Foreclosures. In that regard they are giving financial incentives for Banks to complete Loan Modifications for Homeowners and is a key component of the Making Homes Affordable Program. For most Bank’s you are required to attempt to work out a loan modification before they will even look at your short sale package. It’s really not necessary to pay for this attempt, and in fact the Gov’t will provide help and free assistance to help you with this process. If you don’t qualify for the loan modification process, then you might be a good candidate for a short sale. In previous market cycles short sales were very difficult to get through. While still complex the Banks are now more receptive and open to trying to work out a successful short sale transaction.
